En Valencia a 12 de mayo de 1998, siendo las 24:00 horas, previo análisis y visita de los trabajos presentados, se reúne el Jurado Calificador de los "Premios de Arquitectura del Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de la Comunidad Valenciana 1996", constituido por los siguientes miembros:

—ALBERTO PEÑÍN IBÁÑEZ, Decano del C.O.A.C.V., actuando como Presidente.

—LUIS FRANCISCO HERRERO GARCÍA, Arquitecto.

—GONZALO DÍAZ Y RECASENS, Arquitecto.

—XAVIER GÜELL GUIX, Arquitecto.

—EMILIO TUÑÓN ÁLVAREZ, Arquitecto.

—VICENTE VIDAL VIDAL, Arquitecto, actuando como Secretario.

y examinada toda la documentación presentada en los diferentes apartados, acuerdan, por unanimidad, conceder los siguientes Premios y Menciones:

A. OBRAS DE ARQUITECTURA Y URBANISMO

Se PREMIAN las siguientes obras:

*INSTITUTO BERNABEU DE ALICANTE.
Arquitectos autores: Javier García-Solera Vera, Lola Alonso Vera.
Con una precisa implantación en la ciudad jardín "Prieto", el edificio asume su carácter público respetando la escala doméstica del entorno. La ajustada relación entre el conjunto y las partes se resuelve por medio de un poético equilibrio entre los vacíos y los llenos, y una depurada manufactura con una muy adecuada elección de los materiales.

*CENTRO DE SALUD "EL TOSCAR" DE ELCHE.
Arquitecto autor: Alfredo Payá Benedito.
La implantación del conjunto en una compleja manzana resuelve su acceso sesgado. Una sección de gran interés consigue el control de la luz y las vistas en el rico espacio interior.

a su vez se MENCIONAN las siguientes obras:

*RESTAURACIÓN DEL ALMUDÍN DE VALENCIA.
Arquitectos autores: Juan Añón Gómez, Rafael Martínez Sánchez, José María Herrera García.
La sobria restauración ha puesto en valor el edificio y la plaza de San Luis Beltrán, desapercibidos hasta hoy, para una gran parte de la ciudadanía.

*RESTAURACIÓN DE LA "CASA COMÚ DEL CONSELL" EN MORELLA.
Arquitectos autores: Miguel del Rey Aynat, Iñigo Magro de Orbe.
Se ha valorado la compleja y delicada intervención, especialmente el tallado del acceso a través del control de la luz.

*9 VIVIENDAS ADOSADAS, EN TABERNES BLANQUES.
Arquitectos autores: José Luis Tolbaños Ureña, Francisco J. Reyes Medina.
Se ha valorado el esfuerzo de recuperación e interpretación tipológica, así como los sencillos mecanismos para el control climático

*STAND DEL COLEGIO TERRITORIAL DE ARQUITECTOS DE ALICANTE EN FIRAMACO 96 DE ALICANTE.
Arquitecto autor: Armando Sempere Pascual
Se valora la depurada calidad de esta obra por la limpieza y sencillez con que se ha resuelto una construcción efímero.

C. TESIS DOCTORALES, TRABAJOS DE INVESTIGACIÓN Y PUBLICACIONES.

Se PREMIA la Tesis Doctoral:

*LA CÚPULA EN LA ARQUITECTURA MODERNA VALENCIANA SIGLO XVI A XVIII.
Arquitecto autor: Rafael Soler Verdú.
Un trabajo de investigación realizado con rigor y método en la elaboración de la documentación, en su análisis, y sus conclusiones de aplicación práctica a la restauración.

D. PROYECTOS FIN DE CARRERA

Se PREMIA el proyecto fin de carrera:

*CENTRO DOCENTE EN BOCAIRENT.
Autor: Antonio Gallud Martínez.
Se valora el cuidado de la propuesta en relación al entorno y al paisaje, así como la precisa resolución del programa en un refinado proyecto de arquitectura.

El Jurado reconoce la gran calidad de los trabajos presentados y así mismo, de forma unánime, estima oportuno resaltar el gran interés de la labor que viene realizando la revista "ViA" del C.O.A.C.V., y en especial el número cero "Nueva Arquitectura Valenciana" en la que se recoge el trabajo de muchos arquitectos de la Comunidad Valenciana en el año 1996.

F. PREMIO A LA TRAYECTORIA PROFESIONAL 1996

En Valencia, a 23 de mayo de 1998, la Junta de Gobierno del Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de la Comunidad Valenciana constituida en Jurado Especial para el Premio a la Trayectoria Profesional 1996, y compuesta por el Ilmo. Sr. Decano del COACV, D. Alberto Peñín lbáñez, D. Alejandro Marin-Buck y Albacete, D. Efigenio Giménez García en representación del Colegio Territorial de Alicante, D. Vicente Casanova Carratalá y D. Juan Ranchal Padilla, una vez analizados su currículum, obra y características, acuerdan por unanimidad conceder el Premio Especial a la Trayectoria Profesional y nombrar MESTRE VALENCIÁ D'ARQUITECTURA a D. Juan Antonio García Solera, según disponen las Bases de dicho Premio.

G. Investigación en la vivienda

Siendo las 13,30 h. del 15 de Mayo de 1998 se reúne el Jurado para proponer y valorar los trabajos que correspondan al tema de investigación, formado por los siguientes miembros:

—Alberto Sanchis Cuesta, Jefe del Servicio de Apoyo Técnico, en representación de la Dirección General de Arquitectura y Vivienda,

—Emilio Labastida Martínez arquitecto del Servicio de Apoyo Técnico, en representación de la Dirección General de Arquitectura y Vivienda,

—Alejandro Marín-Buck Albacete, Secretario del Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de la Comunidad Valenciana,

—Juan Ranchal Padilla, en representación del Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de la Comunidad Valenciana.

El Jurado, por unanimidad, acuerda conceder el Premio a la Investigación sobre la vivienda al conjunto formado por la publicación y el curso sobre NUEVOS MODOS DE HABITAR, por lo que aunque se entiende el premio extensivo a todo el equipo de ambos trabajos, se personifica en los arquitectos D. Juan Ramón Navarro Martínez, por la publicación y Dña. María Melgarejo Belenguer por el curso.

El Jurado manifiesta que desea valorar los aspectos de innovación, creatividad y adaptación a los recursos de su época, contenidos en los proyectos y las conferencias que han constituido el curso de NUEVOS MODOS DE HABITAR y desea que tanto la Generalitat Valenciana como el Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos continúen manteniendo el apoyo a la Investigación en la actividad residencial, que ocupa una media estimada del 70% del trabajo del arquitecto.

Having examined all the documents submitted under the different sections, the Jury unanimously agrees to award the following Prizes and Mentions:

A. WORKS OF ARCHITECTURE AND URBANISM

PRIZES are awarded to the following works:

* INSTITUTO BERNABEU, ALICANTE
Authors: the architects Javier García-Solera Vera and Lola Alonso Vera
Precisely placed in the "Prieto" garden city, the building assumes its public rôle while respecting the domestic scale of its surroundings. The close relationship between the parts and the whole is worked out by means of a poetic balance between full and empty spaces, with polished workmanship and a highly appropriate choice of materials.

* CENTRO DE SALUD "EL TOSCAR", ELCHE [Health Centre]
Author: the architect Alfredo Payá Benedito
The insertion of the complex into a complicated city block solves the oblique access. A highly interesting section achieves control of the light and views in the rich interior space.

and MENTIONS are awarded to the following works:

* RESTORATION OF THE ALMUDIN, VALENCIA
Authors: the architects Juan Añón Gómez, Rafael Martínez Sánchez, José María Herrera García.
The sober restoration has emphasised the value of the building and of the Plaza de San Luis Beltran square, which had hitherto gone unnoticed by a large part of the population.

*RESTORATION OF THE "CASA COMÚ DEL CONSELL", MORELLA
Authors: the architects Miguel del Rey Aynat, Iñigo Magro de Orbe.
The complex and delicate work on this building is appreciated, particularly the treatment of the entrance with its control of the light.

* 9 TOWN HOUSES, TABERNES BLANQUES
Authors: the architects José Luis Tolbaños Ureña, Francisco J. Reyes Medina.
The effort to recuperate and interpret the typology is valued, as is the simplicity of the climate control mechanisms.

* TERRITORIAL COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE OF ALICANTE STAND AT FIRAMACO 96, ALICANTE
Author: the architect Armando Sempere Pascual.
This work is valued for the refined quality that results from the clarity and simplicity of the solution to a temporary structure.

C. PhD THESES, RESEARCH PAPERS AND PUBLICATIONS

A PRIZE is awarded to the PhD thesis:

* LA CÚPULA EN LA ARQUITECTURA MODERNA VALENCIANA SIGLO XVI A XVIII [The Cupula in Modern Valencian Architecture: 16th To 18th Centuries]
Author: the architect Rafael Soler Verdú.
A work of research carried out with rigour and method in the preparation of the documentation and in its the analysis and the conclusions, which have practical applications for restoration work.

D. DEGREE COURSE FINAL YEAR PROJECTS

A PRIZE is awarded to the final year of degree course project:

* SCHOOL IN BOCAIRENT
Author: Antonio Gallud Martínez
The care that this proposal shows for the surroundings and the landscape is valued, as is the precise solution to the brief in this refined architectural project.

 

The Jury recognises the high quality of the works presented and also unanimously wishes to draw attention to the very interesting work that is being done by the C.O.A.C.V.’s magazine, "ViA", particularly the number zero issue, "New Valencian Architecture", which brings together the work that many architects from the Valencian Community have done in 1996.

F. PROFESSIONAL CAREER PRIZE

In Valencia, on 23rd. May 1998, the Board of Governors of the Official College of Architects of the Valencian Community, constituted Special Jury to award the 1996 Prize for a Professional Career and composed of Alberto Peñín Ibañez, Dean of the COACV, Alejandro Marín-Buck y Albacete, Efigenio Giménez García, representing the Territorial College of Alicante, Vicente Casanova Carratalá and Juan Ranchal Padilla, having examined his curriculum, works and qualities, unanimously agrees to award the Special Prize for a Professional Career and the title of MESTRE VALENCIÀ D’ARQUITECTURA to Juan Antonio García Solera, as provided in the Rules of the said Prize.

G. HOUSING RESEARCH SECTION

At 13:30 on 15th May 1998 the Jury has met to propose and assess the works that correspond to the subject of research is present and is composed of the following members:

—Alberto Sanchis Cuesta, Head of the Technical Support Service, representing the Directorate General of Architecture and Housing

—Emilio Labastida Martínez, architect of the Technical Support Service, representing the Directorate General of Architecture and Housing

—Alejandro Marín-Buck Albacete, Secretary of the Official College of Architects of the Valencian Community

—Juan Ranchal Padilla, representing the Official College of Architects of the Valencian Community

The Jury unanimously agrees to award the Prize for Housing Research to the unit formed by the publication and the course on NEW WAYS OF INHABITING. Although the prize is to be understood as applying to the entire team of both, it is personified in the architects Juan Ramón Navarro Martínez, for the publication, and María Melgarejo Belenguer, for the course.

The Jury expresses its appreciation of the innovation, creativity and adaptation to the resources of the age shown by the projects and lectures that made up the NEW WAYS OF INHABITING course and desires that both the Valencian Regional Government and the Official College of Architects will continue to maintain their support for research in residential architecture, which, on average, makes up an estimated 70% of the architect’s work.
