 Alicante: Recent Architecture

Reviewing the works of Alicante province that appear in the “Registry of Twentieth Century Architecture of the Valencian Community”, one remembers and verifies the quality of the important accomplishments of the recent past. Works that, some discreetly, others visually very powerful, continue forming part of our landscape and cultural heritage. Works that have resisted bad controlling influences, that are justified by real estate and an implacable tourist-residential demand.

In recent years we have seen a renaissance of hope. Although previous situations are repeated, Architecture has never disappeared and today it is more evident than before. After the two previous publications of Alicante Recent Architecture, we present the third edition with some beautiful examples realized in our province and that will be defining our cities and elevating the restlessness for that urban quality that one day we forgot and that perhaps had not been properly defended by those who could or should!
